| era subwoofers are designed specifically for the way you
listen to music or theater. Deep and musical or, dynamic, loud and dinosaur
proof.
Both
subwoofers sport large A/B amplifiers. They can be configured for down-firing or
front firing with the flick of the onboard boundary EQ, so they can be installed
out of sight in a cabinet or on the floor. Construction
of the era subs is very solid. Extensive internal bracing insures that the
cabinet will not resonate, causing distortions that rob
performance.
By
the way, in any system, two subs are better than one, and three are better than
two. Using multiple subwoofers produces much smoother and even coverage across a
larger space.

The
Sub 8 has
an hourglass porting system that reduces chuffing and eliminates that annoying
one-note-bass sound you get out of many ported subwoofers. It also contributes
to a terrific amount of output and punch. We have found this well suited to home
theater. The hourglass shaped port also yields extremely fast response time and
wide bandwidth. This is a loud proud sub that you feel in your chest. It
performs very well in the 70 Hz and below area and it
loves explosions, dinosaurs, jet planes and the low rumble of the mother
ship.
One
would think that because this is the smaller of the two subs, it would have less
overall output. The Sub 8 actually has 6 dB more output than the Sub 10.
era Sub 8 cabinets are constructed
from ¾” MDF and are layered with beautiful real wood veneers. Finishes
include Rosewood, Cherry, and Piano Gloss Black.

The
Sub 10
is a sealed subwoofer design yielding a deep, musical bass. It was designed to
be accurate to 28Hz in a small enclosure, which means there is no low-end choke
(sub-bass blocker) like most subs. So, while it was designed to play accurately
down to 28Hz, it will not play loud explosions or sub-harmonic synthesized bass
frequently found in movie sound tracks at ear splitting levels. The sub 10 was
designed first as a music sub and performs its best when played with music or
movies at moderate levels.
It
does, however, reproduce a wide range of frequencies reaching extraordinary sub bass levels tremendously fast. A
well-known reviewer uses a Sub10 with his Quads! This woofer will work well in a
theater if extremely loud levels aren’t necessary.
