If you’re in the market for a small, elegant speaker system that must blend with your décor, era speakers may be the perfect system for you. era is the only “high-end” style-of-life speaker system on the market today. However, the speakers were designed as much to appeal to the decorator, as they were the music and home theater lover.
It’s obvious that many times, “speaker size” dictates choice. Now when you have to choose small, you don’t have to choose inferior sound or build quality.
Finishes include real wood book-matched Rosewood, Cherry, Sycamore and Piano gloss black. The exotic veneers are sanded, smoothed and hand polished; giving the cabinet the finest finish you’re likely to see on speakers at any price.
Each cabinet is constructed from ¾ - 1” MDF and heavily braced. The cabinets are cut with the finest European CNC machines so joints are measured by the micron and each joint is absolutely perfect. A great deal of craftsmanship, care and attention to detail goes into every era speaker. This is a product that you’ll be proud to own and is built to last a lifetime.
Technically, the goal was to build small audiophile grade speakers that extend low enough to meet a subwoofer properly, at an amplitude and bandwidth that is believable. Custom drivers were required to meet the demanding specifications.
Long time friend and master speaker designer, Michael Kelly of Aerial Acoustics graciously agreed, and was commissioned to engineer the custom drivers for era. After almost a year in development, the drivers were finally ready to be fitted in their new cabinets and be voiced by era acoustics owners Jim Spainhour and David Solomon.
era speakers reproduce astonishing bass. The D4 satellites have an in-room response down to 58Hz. This is with a 4” driver. The D5 satellites and LCR drop to 50Hz. This allows the subwoofer(s) to be crossed over very low, becoming un-localizable.
The (Japanese silk) dome tweeter is extended yet smooth and musical. Combined with the blanketed grill to prevent standing waves on the front baffle, they provide a deep gripping 3D image even with the grill on. Every detail was scrutinized. This is a true high-end speaker that pulls no punches. Awards include Absolute Sound Editors Choice Award and Home Theater’s Editors pick Award. Reviews are numerous.
The small print: When a speaker with “real” bass response is designed in such a small box, it requires more power than a typical speaker its size. So we suggest an amp or receiver with a good power supply with at least 75 watts or more per channel.
